Percy Jackson and the Olympians – The Lightening Thief

Percy Jackson is great for us greek mythology lovers. The Greek gods move with the art and culture. So now they are in America and thet still have half mortal half god children(called demi-gods or Half-bloods). There is also a magical substance called the mist to make mortals unable to see the supernatural (such as monsters).  The book begins with a boy named Perseus (but everyone calls him Percy) who thinks he is just a normal kid, Until he discovers he is a demi-god. This book is about his adventures with his friends ( another demi-god named Annabeth and a satyr named Grover). This is a great book for adventure lovers. P.S   The movie is coming out on February 12 Presidents Day

Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is a beautiful love story by Jane Austin, set in eighteenth century England. This is a book about bad first impressions, misunderstandings, and of course, pride and prejudice. This is a great story because, it makes it easy to relate to the people of the time period.

“The Fellowship of the Ring”(“Lord of the Rings” Trilogy)

“The Fellowship of the Ring” By J.R.R Tolkien, Is about Frodo, young hobbit  ( a mythical race described in the book) in a place called Middle Earth, who inherits a magical ring but it is also an evil ring so he steps out of his humble house and travels to the elves (another race described in the book) . I wont tell you the rest or you will have no reason to read the remaining chapters. It is a spectacular book , it is also a comprimise between mothers (who insists on their children reading classics) and your children(who want fiction). It is a bit hard for younger children to understand but if you are willing to help them a long, this book is perfect for family reading.

Anne of Green Gables

“Anne of Green Gables” begins with two unmarried, elderly siblings, that live together, (Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert) who apply for a orphan boy to help at Green Gables (their farm) but instead they receive a girl. The stern Marilla at once does not appreciate the talkative young girl, named Anne Shirley, who Marrila thinks is a bit far fetched. Anne has a big imagination, and quickly adapts to life on Prince Edward Island. The book is about her adventures through school, her hatred of her red hair and her rival, Gilbert blythe, and her love for her best friend (bosom friend) Diana Barry. It’s a good book for brunettes, blondes and redheads.
